In addition, TNM also scooped the ‘Life Changing Brand’ award during the 2015 CIM Annual Awards Gala and dinner held Friday at the Mt Soche Hotel in Blantyre.

Making a citation, Lilian Kawaza who represented the CIM judges said TNM scooped the ‘Life Changing Brand’ award for its Ufulu@50 Promotion in which 50 communities received a total of K100 million for social projects of their choice.

The promotion ran in 2014 as part of Malawi’s 50th Independence celebration, but projects are underway in various communities.

“This award is given to a company or an individual whose interventions helped change the lives of many people. Through TNM’S Ufulu@50 initiative many communities have benefited in different social sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure among others,” she said.

TNM’s Chief Commercial Officer Dan Makata who led the company’s marketing team at the awards said going forward the company will strive to remain relevant to the needs of Malawians.

“We are proudly a Malawian brand, focusing on the society we work in a society and as such always thinking on how best to give back to the society and to remain relevant to it,” said Makata.

On brand visibility, FD Communications Ltd which is TNM’s media agency said the secret recipe behind the award was having in place consistent presence in all key media channels based on TNM’s national network coverage, CSR, product and service.

“We had a visibility strategy that aimed to encourage and motivate the customer to look at TNM’s products and services as solutions to daily life. The visibility cut across key media channels, including out-of-home media, and in the community where Ufulu@50 made the most impact. So it was not just marketing, but a holistic and tangible approach to how mobile telecoms touches life,” said Chifundo Scott, FD Communication’s Head of Client Services and Media Management.

The annual event, now in its third year aims to recognize companies, advertising agencies and other outstanding individuals that play a significant role in the marketing and communications industry.
