The premier mobile service provider, TNM few weeks ago unveiled a K3 million sponsorship package to Blantyre Sports Club Ladies Golf Section to enable women golfers host quarterly tournaments this year.

BSC Lady Golf Captain Connie Muguvu- Karuku said all is set to kick start this year’s quarterly tournaments.

“This is an inaugural tournament of the series of ladies’ golf tournaments at BSC sponsored by TNM.The tournament has received so much interest from golfers at both BSC and Country Club Limbe and we are excited and proud to host this tournament as ladies because previously ladies had very minimal tournaments,” said Karuku.

Karuku said on the same day, junior girl golfers will be competing in the same tournament but in their own category.

“We want the whole country to know that BSC ladies section is taking ladies and girls golf seriously and TNM have made their mark by supporting us,” she said

She thanked TNM for the sponsorship saying it will go a long way in sharpening talents among lady golfers.

“Thumbs up to TNM, all costs to be incurred during the tournaments will be covered by TNM. This will make the tournaments more attractive to golfers. I encourage more ladies and young girls to start playing golf now that we have sponsorship,” BSC ladies captain said.

Speaking when he unveiled the sponsorship, TNM’s Chief Commercial Officer Dan Makata said TNM is very passionate about sports and was happy to contribute towards the development of ladies golf, in the country where the sports is dominated by men.

“TNM as a Malawian company is always committed to support all sporting disciplines in the country. We believe with such sponsorship like the one we are unveiling today we will contribute significantly to the development of sports among women and of course keeping them in shape,” said Makata.

The tournament will be played on Medal format and the second tournament will be played in July this year.
