Trans World Radio Malawi re-launches Tisanthule Baibulo programme

After three months break, Trans World Radio (TWR) Malawi has brought back on air its daily programme on the study of the Word of God calledTisanthule Baibulo (TTB).

TWR National Director Victor Kaonga said the programme, which is a complete new package with a new teacher, is expected the hit the airwaves again from next Monday, 1st April 2013.

Kaonga said the programme is based on the original material by late Dr. J. Vernon McGee, who believed that the word of God “is able to meet the needs of each person in the world, regardless of culture, educational background, age or gender.”

TTB programme was first produced in Chichewa in 1988 and aired from Manzini, Swaziland and this will be the third full Chichewa production.

According to Kaonga, apart from TWR, Channel for All Nations, ABC (Lilongwe and Mzuzu), Maziko and Living Waters Church Radio stations will also broadcast the programme.

“TWR is thankful to the radio stations for taking on board this new programme which is known to be a powerful Bible teaching tool for the church,” said Kaonga in a media statement.

The national director also said TWR looks forward to a similar programme in other Malawian languages.

In the programme, Osman Chilora Manda, a retired Bible Knowledge teacher and a graduate of the African Bible College (ABC), will lead in teaching the Bible.

Manda takes over from Rev Booker Kapalamula Banda and Pastor Harrison Kamanga who have been on air since 1998.

The unique characteristic of his ministry was that he concentrated on one thing alone: the clear, comprehensive exposition of the whole Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation.

Who Was Dr. J. Vernon McGee?

American who beginning in 1933, he spent 37 years in pastorate and the foundation of those years was his constant study of the Scriptures.

For over 20 years, Dr. McGee held a weekly night in-depth Bible study for thousands who came from many churches in Los Angeles to study God’s Word with him.

The Lord used these twenty-plus years of weekly Bible studies at The Church of the Open Door to focus and refine the teaching Dr. McGee had done throughout his 37-year career as a pastor.

It became the foundation for what became the Thru the Bible Radio program.

Bible Radio Ministry

During his years as a pastor, many people wanted to hear Dr. McGee’s Bible study messages, but not everyone could come to the church to hear him teach so he got an idea to start taping the messages and air them from local radio stations.

At first his messages were aired just in Los Angeles, but eventually other radio stations in America wanted to air it as well.

Dr. McGee retired from the Church of the Open Door in 1970 in order to devote himself full-time to this radio ministry he had launched as a pastor.

Then in 1969, during a trip to visit the missionary radio station of Trans World Radio on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, Dr. McGee realized, for the first time, the incredible power of radio to teach the Bible, not only in America, but around the world as well.
