Two arrested for selling car hire vehicles: Malawi police recover vehicles in Mozambique

Malawi Police have arrested two men who posed as car hirers but ended up selling the vehicles they took from a car rental in Zomba,  Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Patricia Supliano has confirmed .

She said: “We have recovered the two vehicles in Tete in Mozambique and also arrested two suspects.”

Police identified  the suspects as Afred Mwale aged 27 and Emmanuel Shabu aged 34.

“Mwale is from Balaka while Shabu from Mzimba and they committed the offence on 21st May this year when they went to Mr. Charies Sambani who owns Umodzi Car Hire that they use the vehicles for four days.

“They added other three days but vanished until the owner reported to police after noticing that they could not be reached even on phones,” added Sergeant Supliano.

She said that the police investigations team recovered the vehicles in Mozambique and two are in custody pending court appearance.
