Sitola was unveiled on Sunday during a public rally organized by PP acting president Uladi Mussa at Mangochi boma.

Speaking to  crowds that attended the rally, Sitola faulted UDF top leaders for dragging the party into the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

“It is very painful to see that UDF is now a briefcase party and very soon it will be history,” said Sitola.

“The treatment we received in hands of DPP was very bitter and every UDF supporter went through that experience after 2004 elections will agree with me that it is not right for the party, which had nothing other than aiming to destroy our party could be a saint this time around,” said Sitola who was joined by about 50 other defectors from UDF.

PP Eastern region vice president Ralph Joomah said : “People have now realized that its PP that has answers to the country’s problems. Two years of DPP leadership has been like ages and people are already fed up.”

Some DPP Mangochi Central Constituency leaders also defected to the opposition party.

Hahahahaha joining PP is like joining people going to the grave! If PP did not win election while in power, do you expect it to win while in opposition? If UDF and DPP merges, that is normal since DPP was born out of frustration. Other wise DPP is UDF and UDF is DPP. DPP/UDF alliance is a winning formula! No party can win election with minority unless by use of guns and bombs but as long as elections are concerned, its a game of numbers. Therefore should UDF and DPP merge, they are likely to rule beyond 2024.
