Very unfortunate issues sorrounding Mtawali sacking as Malawi coach

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) executive committee has decided not to renew the  employment contracts of the Flames’ coach Ernest Mtawali and that of his assistant Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan upon expiry on 31st July 2016.Duncan Logo

The official reason that was given by Fam is because of the Flames’ poor performance over the past year in the qualifiers of Fifa World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations and the Cosafa Cup held in Namibia last month.

Indeed, the team performed so badly in these three tournaments and people really had no kind words for such poor results.

However, the Malawi media picked up a leaked report done by Fam’s Technical and Youth sub-committee  — it was so scathing as it revealed that there were serious divisions between Mtawali and his assistant Ramadhan in the way they executed duties.

It is reported that Mtawali never consulted his assistant or his fellow technical panel members when selecting the players, saying he was biased and used wrong tactics.

It is said that Ramadhan was reduced to just an observer.

These are very interesting accusations that begs the question — was Mtawali’s given an opportunity to give his aide of the story?

It seems like Mtawali never liked the choice of his assistant. Probably the two never saw each other eye to eye long before they were paired to work together because it is reported that Mtawali kept insisting that in future Fam should not be imposing an assistant coach but that the head coach should be given an opportunity to choose his own backroom staff.

That, I think, is a good idea. Assistant coaches should be chosen by the head coach.

Ramadhan will continue working solely to lead the Flames in their last ceremonial match against Swaziland in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on September 3.

If he will perform well he might be considered to take over and should that will happen, then Ramadhan should choose his assistant and backroom staff.

What was happening between Mtawali and Ramadhan was very unfortunate and sad. There really must have been something terribly wrong for the two to end up like this because it is said that efforts to reconcile the two failed.

We are owed an official explanation from both Mtawali and Ramadhan for the head coach to behave the way he did. Here is a legend that was given the chance to earn another star in his football career but it all went terribly wrong.

You did your part Enerst but can’t you explain as to what went wrong? Are these accusations right or wrong. We need to know.

IS THE PROBLEM THE COACH OR THE PLAYERS OF BOTH PARTIES? ASK KINNAH, GILBERT, SPY, YOUNG AND ALL THOSE FORMER LEGENDS OF THE NATIONAL TEAM. IF TEDD POWELL IS STILL ALIVE, PLEASE INVITE HIM AND HE WILL TELL YOU THE STRATEGY HE USED TO RECRUIT PLAYERS WHO WON THE CENTRAL AFRICAN CHALLENGE CUP TWICE. SACKING OF THE COACH WILL NOT HELP ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ALSO LOOK AT THE SELECTION OF PLAYERS.

It is just the stupidity of Malawians who like foreigners at the expense of fellow Malawians. Why did Rhamadhan not give this out when he was accompying Mtawali. He means he was just going for allowances. Stupid Burundian who wants employment by turnishing image of others. THIS IS VERY STUPID
