Bingu wa Mutharika once said, Malawians we love eating our history. The transition from MCP regime was not school boy task, it required a balanced minded politician to manage the whole gigantic process. While defusing the well established MCP “cartel” to pionering of proper democratic process wasnt an easy feat. Muluzi managed regional boundaries well, we hardly feel the tribalistic tensions due to his ability to handle the transition. I am one person who opposed everything Muluzi did when he was president and I have never voted for him or his party. But looking at successive presidents after him, I now believe what Lucius Banda said “Muluzi is the best President Malawi will ever ever have”. Despite being a Yao from the Southern Region, Muluzi never displayed any regionalist character. He knew quite well that the Northern Region was up in arms against him, but he continued to pour a lot of development to the North and even appointed people from the North in various strategic positions in government… Read more »

Those of you who think Dr Muluzi is not worth tapping knowledge from ask what your own fathers have achieved on earth. If you got knowledge and advice from your fathers to make you what you are today do not underrate Dr Muluzi who has managed to be a successful businessman and became president of the republic.
