Unprecedented demand knocks Mvelani.com offline: Kapanga says now ‘operating normally’

The popular Malawian streaming platform Mvelani.com was unavailable early Friday morning due to unprecedent demand pulling it offline. Mvelani

The increasing traffic  meant that Malawian music lovers were unable to stream songs from several artist on the platform popular with Malawi diasporas.

An earlier statement on the platform’s Facebook page and Twitter account laid the blame for problems on a ‘technical issue’.

Sources close to Mvelani have revealed to  Nyasa Times that the platform is unable to cope with increased visitor numbers in the past few weeks.

As recently as Wednesday, Malawi’s popular hip-hop artist released his latest single Kanda exclusively on the platform for streaming after it was premiered by Joy Nathu.

This followed the exclusive release of The highly anticipated Worth the Wait MixtapE by another popular R and B artist Bucci.

In a statement made available to Nyasa Times this morning the CEO of Mvelani.com Dumisani Kapanga said that the website is now ‘operating normally’.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience music lovers experience’.

Mvelani.com was started in January 2015 and aims to be the biggest database of Malawian music. Their website states that they help music lovers listen, discover and share new and old music easily.
