This is a glaring example of poor thinking by Chilima considering he is supposed to be an economist who in his position should be innovative. How can tobacco be a strategic crop when smoking is being banned every where. Be creative man

Saulos wayamba kubwebweta. How can a strategic cop make Malawian farmers poorer and foreign tobacco buyers richer. Every year the return to the poor farmer does not improve his well being. Unfortunately you are not telling these farmers the truth that if they diversity to food crops they can make just as much money. It’s sad government can be in the forefront of encouraging it’s citizens to remain poor to make the White man richer.

If you can only recognise the grower himself then that could be very good but if you gather,to plan better ways of stealing from a farmer, then a farmer will remain miserable forever. Consider tobacco prices.

I feel sorry for my poor farmers for they do not benefits from their sweat. It is the tobacco companies and the corrupt officials in at auction floors that get rich.
