Wadabwa out, Ngalande in as Malawi caretaker coach ropes in three players

Flames Assistant Coach Gerald Phiri has roped in three additional players to the squad that is preparing for the 2018 Championship of African Nations (Chan) preliminary qualifiers against Madagascar.

Ngalande: Back in squad

According to Flames Team Manager Peter Mponda, the three players are; Masters Security forward Robin Ngalande and Kamuzu Barracks duo; Pempho Kansichili and Manase Chiyesa.

He said Chiyesa has replaced injured Be Forward Wanderers striker Peter Wadabwa.

“Peter was already injured when he joined camp and he only aggravated it,” Mponda   said.

Ngalande will be making a return to the Flames after over a year during which he has not played competitive football at club level.

The versatile striker has joined newly promoted Masters Security after a long stint in South Africa.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Wednesday, Wadabwa said he aggravated his groin injury describing it as a setback.

“I was looking forward to impress, but l aggravated my groin injury. But all in all l will be back soon,” he said.

The Flames will face Madagascar away in Antananarivo on April 23,2017 in the first leg while the return leg is slated for April 29,2017 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
