“We aim to eventually eliminate queues that are normally seen at Escom. People have to be productive. But maximum production cannot be attained if people spend much of their time on a queue to do a transaction that can be done using their phones,” said Ngwenya.

He added: “Since we launched Mpamba, the number of people transacting using their phones is ever growing. They say time is money, so let us spend it wisely. And there is no better way of achieving that than using Mpamba for electricity bill payment”.

TNM has so far conducted two draws and thirty people have won different prizes ranging from money in form of electricity units and bill payments to energy saver bulbs.

To enter the promotion, customers are required to buy at least K1 000 electricity units or pay Escom bills using TNM Mpamba. Promotion runs until January 4, 2014.
