Winstone Chiwaka aka Papa Winnyman breaks the music jinx

In a world of dynamics and on going tribulations, a new voice in the gospel music circles has emerged with a sharp message that blends social and political woes with the gospel.

 It’s a game changer that tackles social and political ills like corruption head on but also a gospel cut that leaves no stone unturned tp preach the good news through crispy mature reggae sounds.
New music alert it is, and surely it’s gaining airplay on the domestic airwaves with a gaining mileage attached to its music videos too. Papa Winnyman is the jinx breaker, despite the distance of residing in Botswana, he is in touch with his Malawian roots through music that comprises not only touching lyrics but also provocative because his music touches on the untapped raw parameters of dynamics taking a centre stage in Malawi.
If anything, Papa Winnyman’s ten track album dubbed ‘Rise Up Africa’ is a blend of mature content that commands a tremendous amount of appeal to a heterogeneous audience.
Real name Winstone Chiwaka, Papa Winnyman talks about politics, love and gospel in the package through punchy reggae vibes in the name of Rise Up Africa, Zoona, Loving You and Nga ndi Yayiro among others.
The production was all brewed in Botswana where the artist resides and manages his ministry.
“Music is a vehicle of the vibe and essence to humanity. I sing because I strive to reach out and touch many through my talent. Music is a language on its own, it is a ministry that cannot be overlooked,” said the soft spoken Chiwaka from his base.
Veteran and leading renowned local music radio personality Frank Kandu of MBC Radio described Papa Winnyman’s music as a new breeze of comprehensive reggae sound comprising relevant content.
“In a Malawi that experiences new music and artists on a daily basis, the album and content of Papa Winnyman’s ‘Rise Up Africa’ illustrates a great deal of composure, maturity and sanity in one’s passion to music. He stands out and essentially given time, his music is a breakthrough that stands to appeal to masses,” observed Kandu.
Currently, some tracks from Papa Winnyman’s album eat a dominant portion in local music charts on MBC Radios, Zodiak, MIJ, Yoneco FM and Pentecostal Radio among others key media outlets.
