Zambia’s Mampi in town, kick-starts Malawi tour

Zambia’s R&B singer, Mampi Mukape, popularly known by her stage name Mampi will Thursday night start her Easter tour in Malawi with an opening performance at Mungo Park in Lilongwe.

The Walilowelela celebrity singer, who has taken Africa and other parts of the world by storm with her music, arrived in Malawi on Wednesday afternoon.

Mampi is scheduled to have five shows in the country, two in Lilongwe while Blantyre and Mangochi will have one concert each, courtesy of Phindu Promotions.

From Mungo Park, the Lusaka Queen will be at Robins Park in Blantyre on Friday night, then at Zitherepano in Mangochi on Saturday night before hitting the capital city once more to round up the tour at Lilongwe Golf Club and Tiripano Leisure Centre on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

Mampi returns to Malawi following her September 2012 shows in Blantyre and Lilongwe. Last December, the Zambian failed to show up at a show organised by MultiChoice Malawi.

Abel Kumwenda of Phindu Promotions told Nyasa Times that all was set for the tour, saying Mampi and all the artists lined up to perform were ready to rock.

“We are set and all the artists are ready to give their best. We will give Malawians maximum entertainment this Easter,” said Kumwenda.

Mampi is expected to share the stage with Malawian artists Lucius Banda, Black Missionaries, Anthony Makondetsa, Skeffa Chimoto, Maskal, Piksy, Symon & Kendall as well as Armstrong.
