3 nabbed for murder in Mchinji
Police in Mchinji have arrested three men for allegedly murdering 96-year-old Tsekwe Kwachera and dumping him in a well.
Mchinji Police Public Relations Officer Moses Nyirenda told Malawi News Agency (Mana) Thursday that the three committed the alleged offense on December 5, 2015.
Nyirenda said prime suspect Lyson Phiri, 23, is said to have beaten Tsekwe to death with metal objects and removed his private parts before dumping his body in a well near Destiny Kindergaten School where the deceased was working as a watchman.
He said in a police statement Phiri admitted to have murdered Tsekwe and named owner of the school Vincent Gwiriza and a teacher Amos Nkhwangwa as his accomplices.
“Phiri told the police that Gwiriza and Nkhwangwa took part in the murder of Tsekwe and we have since arrested the two pending further investigations,” he said.
The three will appear in court soon to answer murder charges, according to the police publicist.

There great need for civic education in this country to educate the general public to stop employing elderly people as security guards. There should be a limit to age when recruiting a personnel like this one. Their bodies are frail and prone to various abuses including murder. Govt should come forward with strong policies and law to protect this minority.What benefit would a multimillionaire company earn in employing a person with 96 years of age without considering on protecting its wealth which would lost thugs.

The main culprit/accomplice in all this, is the one who refuses to sign a death penalty.

Malawi is really a sad place to ageing. You mean at over 90 the deceased was still working and as if that was not terrible enough to have to face such a horrific death. I’m speechless.
Koma why employing someone who is 96 years old? Those did the gruesome murder should face stiffer punishment according to the law after proven guilty.

Is it pissible for a 96 year old man to be a watchman? What was the motive for employing him? Shame for Malawi!!!
