300 Malawians deported from South Africa for being illegal lags: 849 under detention

A total of 300 Malawian Citizens who were staying in South Africa without proper documents have been deported back to Malawi.

Most Malawians are kept at Lindela Repatriation Centre a privately owned deportation centre outside Krugersdorp in South Africa. The former mining hostel building is owned by the ANC Women’s League and has become notorious for human rights abuses against suspected ‘illegal’ immigrants

Deputy National Spokesperson for the Immigration Department, Wellington Chiponde said half of the deportees arrived in Malawi Tuesday through Kamuzu International Airport.

“We have currently received 150 Malawians that were deported from South Africa and we are expecting another 150 to jet in Wednesday,” Chiponde said.

He added that about 849 Malawians have been detained by the South African authorities for contravening immigration resident conditions.

Chiponde urged Malawians to follow immigration rules whenever they decide to go and live in other countries in order to avoid deportation.

“As Department of Immigration, we are urging Malawians to observe immigration regulations in all countries. Holding a valid passport is not enough but citizens should familiarize themselves with immigration requirements in all countries they are travelling to,” he advised.

This issue is very sensitive, Malawi government has to stop allowing the expatriates as law as a security offer to create jobs for Malawians.

I think you have a bigger problem, that you don’t produce much locally but import so much. You go to a supermarket and 80% of the stuff there is imported from South Africa, even vegetables which you can grow yourselves. That’s wrong! Take a stand and produce stuff yourselves, and see how you can better the economy without globalist intervention. BTW blessing in disguise maybe for those who were deported back to Malawi, SA is a nasty evil place…
