The truth be told, there are many police officers these days who attaining qualifications not relevant to their profession. We have seen police officers doing courses in Theology, Library Science, etc, the same applies with those at Malawi Prison Service, these qualifications do not add value to you work. You must indeed be very foolish and idiot. Do you know that education itself is constitutional right? Why can’t you yourself enrol or attain a degree which is relevant to the institutions you are talking about. Have you ever heard of police administration degrees in Malawi. If you are indeed educated then i do not doubt, you were educated by mistake.

Much as academic papers add value to someone elegibility for promotion but the employer is not always obliged to promote each and very person who has attained a higher academic qualifications. In some institutions they will thank you for attaining a higher academic qualification but leave you at your present post till such a time a vacancy appears where you can compete and be promoted to. If the so called graduates are not happy with their current rank/grades then they can apply outside the Police system and get the job they desire with their high academic credentaials as an employer… Read more »

You have completely missed the point. No no no Graduate police officers are not fighting for promotions. They are fighting for their grades to change two steps upwards, as enjoyed by other officers. Out of the population of fourteen thousand police officers in Malawi, only fifty THREE police officers had their grades not changed.
So that alone does not boarder on promotions
