Activist Mayaya arrested over protests against blackouts
Human rights activists Billy Mayaya has been arrested by police in Lilongwe as he was about to lead demonstrations against persistent power outage in the country.
Mayaya who was organising the demonssltrations has been arrested at Area 18 round about as he was about to start leading group of people in the demonstrations.
The highly equipped Malawi police invaded the police and went straight to Mayaya to arrest him while asking him what they agreed yesterday “a Mayaya tinagwirizana chani dzulo tinagwirizana chani ?” .

It is not clear where the police has taken Mayaya.
Number of people who came to participate in the demos have since left the venue complaining that there’s no human rights in the country as citizens can’t exercise their right to demonstration.
By the look of things, Malawi is fast becoming a totalitarian state even worse than North Korea considering that what happens in North Korea is expected! So we have reached a point where people cannot exercise their rights? Kaya mutiuze ndiinu kuti kodi akati notification amatanthauza kuti chani? Ngati zimatanthauza kungopereka kalata basi mkumapita bola yafika bwanji amavomereza zokambairana? Do people need the police in demonstrations? If they need them kodi pa notification nso umafuna support/cover? Some of these words much as they are in english, they take a legal definition meaning its understanding is beyond the dictionary translation.
