There is more to this than meets the eye, same with JB. Someone behind the scenes is paying for this. Universities are PAID to give honorary degrees, they don’t just give them for free. So someone is trying to get a favor out of APM. APM cannot see what is happening, he thinks he is getting this because he is a genius in the mean time he is being played like a guitar. Like most politicians this is the easier thing to do rather than fix the country, its easier to go to parties and be praised by people rather… Read more »

In Africa today, everything goes backwards. It has become a routine in our Universities to confer an honorary degree to any Jim and Jack. What a human success did Muthalika accomplish to be awarded with a degree of the Doctor of Letters? Africa is indeed,a lost world.Muthalika to be awarded such an honour amidst shameful and criminal undertakings such as theft of public funds in billions, the massively rigging of the last general elections that caltupulted him and his Party into power,he has divided the nation tribalistically to his own advantage,he has driven our nation into unprecedented economic and political cataclysm,he has absolutely,no sense… Read more »

We always celebrate in mediocrity…he has done nothing tangible to deserve an award and blow trumpets!! African leaders who most of them are octogenarians are blindfolded when conferred with such honorary degrees….

I totally agree with you that we always celebrate in mediocrity. How can a PhD holder like you come on this page and tell us about your education qualification? What’s the relationship here? Oh my …No wonder Malawi has PhD holders more than developed countries, she is the poorest on earth.

O………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….O GET YOUR TIMING RIGHT There are certain untruths about these honourary degrees . . . was it not this very yesterday, when JB was honoured with doctorate in economic management? yet kumuona JB yo, mhhhh. . . . if honour was given to people for what they truly are, JB wouldnt get that degree. She was cheated! . . . and, if honour is given to people because of what they are now, (and not what they were, some 50 yrs ago); this cup could have by-passed APM. …………………………………………………………………………. Yes APM may have been some legal savant some 40… Read more »

I agree with you The Analyst on almost all the fronts in your comment, including on the need for the independence of the ACB. However, my view is that the ACB will never be independent as long as it is under the arms of the government that are 100% dominated by politicians (monkeys) such as the executive and the legislature. Moving it from the executive and put it under the legislature will not and never make it independent. That’s my argument. I will be happy on a day when the ACB will be totally delinked from both the legislature and… Read more »

Osakana bwanji? Wole Soyinka and Mugabe have been declining such honarary degrees because they are useless. Educated people should not be wasting time with such degrees, leave it to people like Muluzi and Joyce Banda
