Admarc junior workers end strike, resume work after review of condition of services

Junior workers at Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) headquarters  have  gone back to work after calling off their strike demanding a review of their salaries and other conditions.

Admarc public relations officer Agenss Chikoko confirmed  the  end of strike following the meeting which the employees had with management on Tuesday.

She said the junior staff were promised that their grievences will be addressed with an immediate 15 percent salary increament arrears from July 2016 and thereafter a 50 percent increament from July 2017.

Chikoko said they agree “amicably” on some of the conditions that were demanded.

They agreed on a review of the housing allowances with an increase from K2,000 to K15,000 should be effected.

For  leave grant  it was agreed to be raised from K5,000 to K50,000 while lunch allowance will be at K2500 from K1000.

Chikoko said the “proposals” have been made “subject to approval by the board”.

The junior staff includes security guards, messengers, casual workers and those from the landscape and building sections.
