Airtel Malawi on Monday donated K2 million towards the coronation of Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa the fifth to take place on October 5 in Mzimba.
Eldest son of the late Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa IV, Mkhosi Jere, will ascend to chieftaincy after death of his father, Zwangendaba, in 2013.
The 29 year-old crown prince will be enthroned as Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa the Fifth (V) at Engalaweni, the official Inkosi ya Makosi enthronement village.
Airtel Malawi Managing Director Heiko Schlittke said his company appreciate the role that culture plays in the development of the country hence the donation.
The representative of the Ngoni Cultural Heritage Inkosi Mpherembe commended Airtel for the donation and urged other companies to emulate the good example as shown by the Airtel.
So far Mpherembe has confirmed that Inkosi Mpezeni and Kalonga Gawa Undi have also been invited to the function.
Few weeks ago Airtel Malawi donated ten set of ZTE Tabs to Luanar and Natural Resources College (NRC) to each College.
Airtel Malawi IT director Matthews Mtumbuka said it is imperative for scholars to be up to date with the much needed information, knowledge and skills in order to remain competitive.
Mtumbuka said it is important for students to have access to the right equipment and resources so that downloading of materials becomes easier.
Luanar and NRC became the latest to receive the ZTE V9A Tabs after Kamuzu College of Nursing, University of Livingstonia, Catholic University, Malawi Polytechnic and Adventist University.
