Airtel Malawi pumps K69m for Risings Stars

Airtel Malawi has pumped in K69million cheque towards 4th season of the Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) activities implemented by the Malawi Schools Sports Association (MASSA).

Speaking during the cheque presentation to MASSA on Thursday, Airtel Malawi Acquisition and Research Manager Richmond Chinula said the fourth season of the ARS gives youths a platform to explore their talent and expose them to life changing opportunities through football.

“The beauty with this tournament, it gives our youths opportunity to become responsible citizen,  it engages them while at a youthful stage at the same time further their football skills,” he said.

In his remarks, MASSA General Secretary Blackson Malamula said the body is very grateful to Airtel for sponsoring activities that will improve football in the country.

“These funds will go a long way in improving football skills among young people in our schools across the country,” he said.

Malamula said some of the funds will be used in administration, trainings, giving awards to outstanding young people among others.

Meanwhile, MASSA and Airtel Malawi will launch the 4th Season of ARS in Mchinji on Saturday.

ARS is an African-wide program that provides a platform for upcoming soccer talent under the age of seventeen to showcase their skills to leading scouts and coaches.
