Airtel splashes over K1.6m in northern Malawi, ‘Yabooka’ promotion

Airtel, one of Malawi’s leading mobile network provider, has splashed over K1.6 million worth of prizes in the on-going ‘Yabooka kwa a geni’ in the northern region.

Airtel deputy sales manager for the north Felix Banda said this in an interview on Tuesday during a weekly draw in Mzimba district.

He said ‘Airtel yabooka kwa a geni promotion’ is specifically targeting retailers and distributors working with the mobile network provider.

He said the promotion was especially designed to excite retailers and distributors whom he claimed are the backbone behind the company’s marketing success.

The promotion runs up to 7th August and runs for three months.

Banda said so far K1.6 million worth of prizes have been won in the competition.

In the promotion, Airtel conducts weekly draws every Tuesday where retailers win prizes such as sim cards, K10, 000 and K20, 000 worth of air time, mobile and phones among others.

”The promotion is going on well and so far over K1.6 million worth of prizes have been won by our retailers and distributors here in the northern region,” he said.

Banda commended retailers for boosting the company’s marketing base as they act as linkages between the customers and the company.

The promotion winds up on 6th August with maize mill as a top prize. Other prizes including treadle pumps are also up for grabs in the on-going promotion.

And speaking to Nyasa Times in a separate interview, one of the retailers Sam Banda hailed Airtel for the promotion which he said recognizes and appreciates the role retailers plays in marketing Airtel products.

Banda also hailed the company’s initiative for supporting retailers as most promotions only targets customers.
