Analyst says Atupele ‘convicing’ in final Malawi presidential debate: Chilima rated overall winner

Al g overnance expert and political commentator has rated United Democratic Front’s Atupele Muluzi as the winner of   last presidential debate but said  current Vice-President Saulos Chilima of the UTM Party as overall winner of this year’s series of televised debates.

The six out of eight presidential candidates who took part in the debate promised to transform Malawi and move Malawians out of poverty

In an analysis and rating, Makhumbo Munthali who has been part of the audience during the three series of the presidential debate, said UDF’s Muluzi  was the “most convincing” candidate in Final televised debate after abandoning his confrontational approach to the debate witnessed in the previous debate.

Analysts or analists. What debate did you watch? Atupele was up there defending the status quo and reverting to English to disguise his glib responses. Paja ku Malawi we think speaking English is intelligence.

Atupele did well in the second debate after abandoning people of the boxes who were so timid to come out. I wouldn’t differentiate much between Chilima and Chakwera coz their manifestos are similar in so many ways. Supporters of kleptomaniac magogo muntharika should just keep quiet. Old cargo, congeal blood. Can’t even talk chifukwa mano anatha mkamwa.

Atupele most likely to win the presidency, i.e. if he does not give in and decides to join DPP

Atupele did well very true, he was calm though he was just repeating the same his 3points he knows, but he was acting very calming. I green with that. So who gave him answers? Because some one is saying the Task force gave Chakwera answers? Koma Malawi!!!!

Poor analysis, I think Chilima is overrated for nothing , Chilima failed to articulate most of the questions, to sum up His miserable performance check his closing remarks full of anger and hate , Chilima has proved that he is bad in answering questions check his interviews with BBC hard talk and the recent interview with Brian Banda .
Chakwera was tops because he showed maturity and consistency, Atupele was second and Chilima was third. Chilima is a podium politician politician he is disappointment when it comes to articulating issues he is just full of pomp , hate and arrogance.

The analysis is not reflective of The figures. We can all see that Atupele has scored highly so how come you change the ranking at the end? After all these are just perceptions the day is coming when we in the rural areas will put APM on chair again based on the score card of achievement not mere lubwalubwa

I watched both debates and in my view Chilima was indeed the most convincing, the Reverend was also good but i find hos style on beong too calm and giving deliberate answers backfired a bit as it makes hom look like he has no passion or fire in the belly to take on the challenges Malawi is facing. Atupele ruined himself by carrying out the DPP instructions in the 1st debate.
