Andy Kamkwalala is new Malswitch MD

The Board of Directors of Malawi Switch Centre Limited (Malswitch) have appointed Andy Kamkwalala as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the institution.

The appointment is with effect from November 1, 2014, according to Jimmy Koreia Mpatsa, Interim Chair of the Board of Directors.

Kamkwalala has been with Malswitch from its start up phase in 2001.

“He has from 2006 to the present been involved in executive leadership as the company’s Head of Finance and Administration as well as Company Secretary.

“In this capacity, he has played critical roles in cross-function collaborations bridging strategy, financial control and business development,” said Mpatsa.

Kamkwalala is a Fellow of Charted Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA), Charted Global Management Accountant (CGMA), holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the University of Malawi.

He is also an alumnus of the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business’ Executive Leadership Programme.

“Andy Kamkwalala is an exceptional executive who has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to lead, manage and contribute to the growth of the company.

“The directors are, therefore, excited with his appointment and look forward to his inspiring the management and staff of Malswitch to greater innovation and growth into the future,” said Mpatsa.
