The proposed New UDF organization structure is not new. MCP started with such a structure in 1960s. I am surprised that our political analysts don’t know this.

Great approach to politics of tomorrow. Youths and women have a big role to play in Malawi politics and society so the formation of a structure that talks to these constituencies is good. The youth structure would then naturally be a breeding ground for leaders of tomorrow and a great way to mentor and incubate tomorrow’s politicians. However, UDF needs to redefine itself and therefore rebrand to resonate with the politics of tomorrow. It has long been overshadowed by DPP politics and hasn’t been good for the once powerful party.
