Confirming the incident to Nyasa Times, Karonga Police Public Relations Officer Enoch Livason said the baby who was wrapped in a plastic bag, was found by a certain woman wanting to use the toilet.

According to Livason, medical results show that the baby has die due to suffocation.

“Indeed we are hunting for the unidentified woman who has today dumped a baby in the toilet and was found by a certain woman who wanted to use the toilet around 10 am in the morning,” said Livason on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace under the Karonga Diocese through its Desk Officer Mwayi Shaba has condemned the rise of crime in the district saying “the environment is now hell.”
