Balaka man arrested for defiling step daughter

A 49 year old man is in Police custody at Balaka Police Station for allegedly defiling his 9 year old step daughter.

Police say the suspect Davie Francis had been defiling his step daughter since last year December.

Police spokesperson Sub-Inspector Joseph Sauka says the victim told the police that her father had been defiling her since last year just soon after her mother left the place for Chiradzulu to nurse her mother who was in Hospital.

“She said just a day after her mother left, the suspect found her in her room during night time and defiled her. Since then, the suspect had been defiling her until last week when she reported the matter to her aunt that she wanted to leave the place without revealing the reason,” says Sauka.

He says this made her aunt to call for the Community Child Protection worker for the area Elizabeth Trapence to interview the child who revealed that she wanted to leave the place because she was tired of being defiled by her father; and this made her to report the issue to Balaka Police who arrested the suspect.

Medical examinations done at Balaka District Hospital revealed that the child was repeatedly defiled.

Meanwhile, the suspect Davis Francis is still in Police custody and is expected to appear before court soon where he will answer a case of defilement of girls under the age of 16 which is contrary to section 138 of the Penal code.

Davis Francis who has five children and has married twice, comes from Mkweya village, Traditional Authority Chanthunya in the same district of Balaka.

Msangaambe Phiri is showing his ignorance here. Your English tells me you must go back to school and start all over again, may be standard 8. These issues are happening across the country, but what is making Balaka so notorius with these stories is the level of media coverage. Balaka is being covered very well and soon a solution is on the way. You or your relative will be found in the same cases, as you think it cannot happen where you are. Quil biab!

“Earlier if men and women would hold hands, they would get caught by parents and reprimanded, but now everything is so open. It’s like an open market with open options.” On news channels highlighting rape stories: “Every evening, these people have juicy discussions about one or two incidents (of rape). They are insulting the mothers and daughters of Bengal day after day.” “Everyday rape incidents are being highlighted as if the entire state has become the land of rapists. Rape is sought to be glorified by these people. This will not be tolerated by people. I would like to say that… Read more »

Some of these people are unfit for our society and need castration as a protective measure for our innocent children.

Why defile his own children? Castrate him!!!!

i am still amazed why the word defile is used instead of calling it what it is. Rape. a definition of Urbun dictionary defines “defile – Verb used to describe what happens to a caucasian woman after she has intercourse with an african …”
