Roads get damaged even in Europe not because of corruption but wear and tear. Stop sensationalising each and every problem as corruption induced.
Baba, you are wrong. Compare the Chitipa Karonga road built 5 years ago with the Rumphi, Mzuzu, Chikangawa – Jenda road built in the 80s. Bingu road vs Kamuzu road.

The real problem, which of course cadets also know but choose to pay a BLIND eye, are hefty commissions (DPP gurus call them DONATIONS).
Same companies (Mortal Engel) construct durable beautiful roads in our neighbouring countries, e.g. Zambezi Bridge, Chipata-Luangwa Road,etc. No contractor wants to make losses. So they transfer “DONATIONS” costs to the owner. Then they build FAKE roads, deposit few U$ in corrupt politicians accounts, end of story. Surprised?

NyasaMana, you should also have mentioned the Limbe – Thyolo – Mulanje – Muloza road which was built by an Italian Company called Alstadi in early 1990s after its construction was suspended in 1992. The road its of highest quality. One can just see from a naked eye. Those driving on it feels its quality. The new Mzuzu – Nkhata Bay road built by a German Company may rival it.
Roads do not get damaged just after 5 years of being constructed. Please stop defending the indefensible. Who was supervising the standards of construction such an important asset of the people of Malawi? Infrastructure are our assets and must be constructed to last. People are not wrong to blame substandard workmanship on corruption. What else? Not after just 5 years. This was simply substandard road either built on the cheap or some cash pocketed by Bingu.
Hahaha! Which Europe are you referring to? If this happened in Europe, the company which constructed the road would be blacklisted & will be asked to reconstruct the road for free.
