The beauty of art lies not only in transforming inspired view into actuality but also in ability to transform ordinary ideas into extraordinary; and one top-notch dancehall artist BlakJak has proven to be capable of that.
For almost half a decade BlakJak born Fatsani Mike Kalonda has been a darling of many through his music that is simply but creatively done to amuse the eager audience. His songs have born out of simple but ordinary ideas, setting him apart from other artists treading similar path.
From Wadya Iwe to Yes or No, his songs have not lacked a single sparkle to absorb and, most importantly, create the appetite for more.
Last week the artist released his first 2017 single Ndakusowa (Ine Apa), a plainly done love song whose lyrics confound every mind that dares to nibble on it.
“I wanted to make a very different love song. A song that would make a partner Laugh than just smile,” explained BlakJak.
It’s atypical for an artist of BlakJak’s caliber, whose lyrics have quoted a fair share of controversy, to jump on love song and ably deliver in a beguiling but ascetical way.
“My music can be tricky and hard to understand at times but I always try to be narrative and I guess people have finally accepted and embraced it.”
Ndakusowa (Ine Apa) is a tune with well arranged and catchy lyrics spinning around the artist’s attraction to a girl he happens to meet on his way to a performance. The two seems to have clicked only for the artist to realize that he does not know her better.
It is on his quest to trace her whereabouts that makes the song interesting and enchanting. For those who have already sampled it surely agree it is talent in another dimension beyond layman’s comprehension, and that BlakJak is on another planet.
But what’s the future like for the artist? BlakJak revealed a challenge to release about 20 songs this year.
“I have a new team working on my stuff; new manager too so future looks bright. Plan is to release 20 songs by end of the year,” he added.
And for his fans the wait for a music video might take a little bit longer as he disclosed that five music videos are on the way.
“Will release about five music videos this year and will have a tour at some point.”
So far Ndakusowa has amassed over 5,700 downloads since its release on Friday 20th January, 2017.
