Board apologies on Lilongwe water shortage, blames ESCOM
Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) has issued an apology to tap water users in the areas surrounding Malawi’s Capital for water shortage problem hitting the residents for the past three days saying this is largely because of electricity outage that the Board is experiencing at its main Treatment facility in Area 3.
Residents has since Sunday experiencing water shortages which has been forcing them to draw water from unprotected sources risking themselves to waterborne diseases.
In a statement the board says it is meanwhile working closely with ESCOM to have the problem rectified and that electricity supply is restored at its treatment facility.
“In the meantime, customers with supply are being advised to keep enough water and use it sparingly. The Board is sincerely apologizing to all its customers for the inconveniences that this has caused,” reads the statement.

If it’s electricity blackout at your area 3 plant why not use a standby generator?
Why not distribute water using other means.
What LL residents are facing is not a water shortage. They have no water at all.
