Bullets and Mafco Carlsberg tie most expensive of quarterfinals

The quarterfinals matches involving defending champions Bullets FC and Mafco is the most expensive game with the open stands charges  pegged at K1,000.

The game will be played on Sunday at Civo Stadium in the capital city as it the discretion of  the organising committee to fix games despite that it was the Salima based soldiers home match.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Competition Officer said Bullets game would be expected to attract a good patronage hence the decision to raise gate charges.

“When people at the Bullets game there’s a lot at stake and it is expected to be an explosive match,”  Zakazaka said.

“When you consider that Bullets have a good patronage it does make sense to have their game charges raised to as it would also help to control crowd hence avoiding potential breakout of violence.”

In other games to be played on Saturday Mighty Be Forward Wanderers face surprise package of the competition Dedza Young Soccer stars at Kamuzu Stadium, Moyale face Kamuzu Barracks in an all soldiers affair at Nankhaka while Silver date the only lower league of standing Support Battalion at Civo United.

The K30 million Carlsberg Cup has produced some shocking results with Azam Tigers being booted by Dedza  as Wanderers survived Chirumba Barracks scare to advance with a 1-0 win.

Support Battalion also shocked Civo United with a 1-0 victory as Moyale stunned Rec Lions 4-3 to reach the quarters.
