Bullets beat Mafco to go top: Malawi TNM Super League

Malawi champions Big Bullets went top of the TNM Super League table after Chiukepo Msowoya’s second half goal in a narrow 1-0 win over ten-man Mafco on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Rediscovering his scoring boots, Msowoya finally ended Mafco’s stubborn resistance when he tapped in a fine pass by Jafali Chande in the 67th minute to Jailosi Kapalamula in goals for the visitors,

The goal resulted from a corner.

Mafco have early scare to the champions with Saidi Mtekama, Patrick Masanjala and Emmanuel Chipeta dictating the pace in the middle of the pack.

They soldiers also had Bullets defence on their back foot most of the times but were let down by jittery strikers Richard Mbulu and Kalista Kalinda.

And the champions had to thank goalie Owen Chaima who saved many would be goals.

Mafco played one man shot when Mbulu saw red in the 53 minutes following a foul language on second assistant referee Fanuel Mailosi.

Bullets head coach Nswazirimo Ramadan said the champions will keep their title defence campaign in shape.

And in other matches, Moyale Barracks got the better of Airborne Rangers by beating them 2-0 to collect their first three points in three matches. And at Civo, EPAC and Civo shared apoint each following a 1-1 a draw.
