Bullets beat Rangers 2-1: Malawi TNM Super League

Striker Jimmy Zakazaka came from the bench to help Big Bullets beat Airborne Rangers 2-1 in the TNM Super League on Saturday at Chitowe Stadium.

Airborne Rangers were first to open the score sheet when Leonard Gemezulu slotted home calmly through a header.

Bullets were fortunate to escape with only a 1-0 trail in the first half as the Salima based soldiers were coming wave after wave in their territory.

In the second half, Bullets made several changes bringing in veterans Fischer Kondowe and Jimmy Zakazaka for Tizowere Kumwenda and Jaffalie Chande.

However, it was Dalitso Sailesi, who did the damage as he scored an equalizer a minute into the second half.
Rangers conceded a 39th minute goal from Zakazaka, who headed in a Kondowe’s cross.

Big Bullets coach Elijah Kananji was excited with the win.

“We had a good work-rate and concentration from the start. We had a very good second half when we were in control and dominated the game.

“They [Sailesi and Jimmy combined very well, especially towards the end of the game. Our plan today was to play Victor Limbani behind their midfield and it worked. I’m confident we will go from strength to strength now.”

Airborne Rangers assistant coach Charles Banda blamed his defence for conceding what he described it as a silly goal.

During the match, Burundian coach Swazurimo Ramadhani was spotted giving instructions to the technical panel from the stands.
