Bullets beat Tigers as Surestream register first win: Malawi TNM Super League
Champions Big Bullets moved three points clear of their rivals Mighty Be Forward Wanderers on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win against Azam Tigers in the TNM Super League match played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Bullets increased their tally at the top of the standings to 19 and opened a three-point gap above Silver Strikers who moved second following their 4-0 win over Dedza Young Soccer.
The champions were in serious business after a winless tour of the north last weekend where they fdropped four points intheir two games against Mzuni FC and Moyale Barracks ended in 1-1 draws.
Striker Chiukepo Msowoya, who produced a silky performance and befittingly named man of the match, set up Mussa Manyenje who planted home the first goal.
Bullets received a boost when Tigers were reduced to 10 men after Hanke Machira was sent off following a second booking.
The Peoples Team, started the second half strongly, scoring two minutes from the start when Jafalie Chande headed home a cross from Msowoya.
Aggressive, sharp and spraying the ball with ease across the pitch, with one man advantage, this was Bullets at its best.
Mike Chitani of Tigers caught Bullets goalkeeper Owen Chaima napping when his shot yawned the net.
“We were focused and clinical,” Bullets assistant coach Mabvuto Lungu said. “We had the killer instinct.”
Lungu said Bullets are strongly campaigning for title defence prospects.

Azam Tigers are now stuck on fifth position after collecting 14 points from eight games.
In other matches; away at Kalulu Stadium, Surestream registered their first win as they beat Mzuni FC 2-0, while Silver Strikers walloped Dedza Young Soccer at Dedza Stadium as EPAC lost 3-5 to Kamuzu Barracks.
