Immigration Public Relations Officer Martha Gonondo told MBC Radio that Ramadhan is only allowed to live in Malawi just as a visitor hence a need for his employers [Bullets] to process his work permit.

“Our records shows that he just came here in Malawi for a visit and not to work.

“Our office is therefore asking his employers [Bullets] to work on his work permit and if that is not done, he will be deported,” warned Gonondo.

Gonondo could however not be drawn to comment on the grace period given to Ramadhan and Bullets to process the much needed documents.

But in reaction to the news, Bullets F.C Chairperson Kondie Msungama denied that Ramadhan is full time employed by Bullets.

Msungama said the coach and the club is working on the same to make sure he gets the papers.

“We haven’t employed him until his work permit is finalized but as of now he has just been extending his days of staying in Malawi which means he is not employed and never signed any employment contract with us” he said.

According to the Bullets Chair, Ramadhan’s involvement in football is part of cheering which is in line with the papers he has at the mean time.

Can Immigration Department act? The guy is coaching and BB is saying he is not working. What do you mean? RSA has now changed laws. The South African government does not issue work permits in South Africa. U have to apply in your country.
Ramadan is living illegally. Can Immigration Department must act. In fact, let them move from company to company to check on foreign nationals who are working illegally. They have to deported and the company employing illegal immigrants should be prosecuted.

I would have thought he is in bleach of immigration law by working as a visitor, and as such, shouldn’t he be arrested and deported? Bata have questions to answer ie, what checks did they do to check his legality to work?
