Bullets chairperson Kondie Msungama has been enthusiastic with the draw against Fomboni who are also 2014 league champions in their country located off the East Africa coast.

Msungama feels the crowd pullers who have been the model of consistency this season, have been handed a “glorious” opportunity to the competition since they will be playing an unknown team in the preliminary round.

“We welcome this draw; it will be a fantastic tie,” said Msungama.

“We are ready. Bring them on. We are not in Champions League to make numbers,” said the chair of the champions.

Bullets will start with an away fixture on the weekend of February 13, before the return leg in Blantyre two weeks later.

“The good thing is that we are playing the first leg away and the time we will be playing the return leg, it will be easy ride for us,” he said.

Msungama could not hide his excitement as his dream of returning The People’s Team in the elite African league finally came true.

Said he: “It has been a long time since we last played in CAF and I am happy that our dream has come true”.

Msungama said Bullets will strengthen the squad but could not mention names of the targeted players.

Bullets last participated in the CAF Club Champions League in 2004 when the team was sponsored by former Malawi president Bakili Muluzi.

They finished amongst the best eight African clubs and Msungama was the team’s treasurer then.

Veteran winger Fischer Kondowe, who is among surviving players from the squad that last played in Champions League in 2004, said Bullets can go all the way to semi-finals: Mark my words, it is possible.”

The CAF league winner will qualify for the 2015 Fifa Club World Cup which is competed for by champion clubs from all six continental confederations.
