The game will take place on 13th December at Kamuzu Stadium.

The main aim of the shield is to create awareness on keep Blantyre clean and green campaign championed by Mayor Noel Chalamanda.

According to Dan Tambala, who is one of the members in the keep Blantyre clean and green
committee, the winners will receive K1 million with the losing team will go home with K500, 000.

Tambala said the two teams will also receive K650, 000 which will be used for their preparations and allowances to their players.

The gate collections will go to Blantyre City Council where it will be used for the campaign.

Tambala also said they have asked national sports council and FAM to donate their share to
keep Blantyre city clean and green.

Multi-Choice Malawi marketing manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda said they are sponsoring the charity shield as one way in taking a leading role in keeping Blantyre City clean and green.

Nyirenda also said SuperSport will shoot a documentary on the Blantyre derby.

“They will feature people who were present during the time Bullets and Wanderers rivalry started to explain everything in details,” said Nyirenda.

Nyirenda also said prior to the game, SuperSport will shoot both teams training and feature fans during the game on Saturday.

Blantyre City deputy mayor, Wild Ndipo saluted Multi-Choice Malawi for sponsoring the Mayors Charity Shield and urged them to make it an on-going trophy.

I think we need to rest our footballers. That’s why it is difficult to play well in important matches because they are burn out….
