Bullets part company with coach Ng’onamo: Gerald Phiri named caretaker

Reshuffle at Big Bullets as they have parted company with their coach Edington Ng’onamo replacing him with his deputy Gerald Phiri, a day after the Peoples Team lost 3-2 to Red Lions in the TNM Super League on Sunday.

Big Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire has confirmed the news.

Mkandawire said they have parted ways with Ng’onamo as he is busy with other duties.

“It’s true that there are changes at Bullets and our fans should know that Mr Ng’onamo is no longer the coach due to other commitments,” said Mkandawire.

Mkandawire said Gerald Phiri is now the head coach assisted by their former goalkeeper Swadick Sanudi and Fundi Akidu to take the club forward.

He, however, stressed that their marriage with Ng’onamo has ended not because of the team’s poor performance especially on Sunday when they lost to Red Lions.

Mkandawire emphasized that Ng’onamo will still be part of the Bullets family as he has been given a new role as the technical director.

Phiri’s first task as coach will be on Sunday, as Big Bullets travels to the lower Shire to face Blantyre United at Kalulu Stadium.
