Bullets qualify 3-2 on aggregate: Malawi champs survive Fomboni test in Caf
Malawi champions Big Bullets survived a scare when drawing 2-2 with visiting Fomboni Club de Moheil from the Comoros on Saturday afternoon after they threw away a two-
The Bullets however, sailed through before a packed Kamuzu Stadium in the commercial capital, Blantyre after their first leg 1-0 win to qualify 3-2 on aggregate and will next face either Al Hilal from Sudan or KMKM of Zanzibar.
The crowds included Sports Minister Grace Chiumia and her Energy and Mining counterpart Atupele Muluzi- a Bullets supporter.
Bullets opened the score sheet in the 36th minutes when Victor Limbani planted the ball in the net of the visitors after connecting a cross from captain Fischer Kondowe.
Striker Tizgobere Kumwenda who scored the vital goal in Comoros, added the second goal seven minutes later.
The first half ended 2-0 in favour of the hosts.
As Bullets eased off – creating no meaningful opening in the second half – the visitors grew in confidence.
Fomboni’s Marius Alfonse and Dafida M’madi had, in a space of four minutes, wiped out the Bullets’ first-half lead.
Eight minutes into the second half Marius Alphonse pulled one back for Fomboni through Dafida M’madi penalty kick after Bullets defender Yamikani Fodya’s fouled overlapping defender Asa Abdallah.
Mozambican referee Anibo Amando Antonio did not hesitate to award the penalty and show a yellow card to Fodya.
The Bullets held on to their lead to sail through at the expense of the visitors who had arrived in Blantyre on Wednesday night so exhausted after two days of travelling by road through neighbouring Tanzania.
Bullets coach Nsazurwimo Ramadhan said his charged “got carried away, thinking that it was over”.
Fomboni’s Malawian star Wister Phiri who had lavishly praised Bullets before the game, made it clear that the Peoples Team had played into their hands.
“We knew what their weaknesses were and we exploited them,” said Phiri.
Phiri said Bullets were lucky to escape defeat in their hands, especially in second half.
“They were just lucky, otherwise we nearly beat them,” said Phiri.
Bullets: Vincet Gona, Sankhani Mkandawire, Jaffalie Chande (Mussa Manyenje), Pilirani Zonda, Yamikani Fodya, Bashir Maunde, Victor Limbani, Dalitso Sailesi, Fisher Kondowe, Henry Kabichi (James Chilapondwa).

So far so good. This is football nothing less.
Bullets has never been perfect neither the Flames know how to win.
Mistakes are always there in any game, but BB needs to build on their strengths.
Which team does not lose in the world, home or away?
You know what, parents cheer their child when she/he takes a first step to walk.
Its a learning process.
Bravo maule!!!
I smell trouble in the next encounter, the teams to the north of our country aim 4 a kill while BB play 2 make a name among themselves who is the best. Remember this is not chibuku tournament, its a continental tournament where the best team takes it all. Pull up ur socks and dont hurt us with ur attitude on the pitch plz.
drawing at home to a team like FOMBONI…forget beating Al Hilal! unless they change of both mindset, attitude and tactics!
