Bullets salvage late Mzuni draw: Malawi TNM Super League

Malawi champions Big Bullets showed the resilience that could underpin a TNM Super League title defence when they scored in the closing minutes to draw 1-1 against Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC at Mzuzu stadium on Saturday.

Dalitso Sailesi tapped in after 72 to cancel out the lead Mzuni held after n early sixth minute goal by Mabuchi Mkochi who planted home from a well taken free kick past Owen Chaima, goalkeeper for Big Bullets .

Bullets assistant coach Lloyd Nkhwazi said the draw was good result as they collected “vital point because we were facing defeat but a deserved draw.”

Mzuni Coach Alex Ngwira commended his boys for a job well done was naturally disappointed after conceding late goal but said he was otherwise pleased with the way the students performed.

“Obviously it’s a disappointment that we did not win but overall I am very pleased with the way we played against experienced Big Bullets considering the fact that my team is coming from a lower league,” Chirwa said.

Mzuni FC captain Peter Chavula also said the students are coming of age in the flagship league, warning other teams visiting Mzuzu Stadium to face dressing down.

Bullets were now on equal points with league leader Mighty Be Forward Wanderers with 15 points each but are Bullets on top of the 15-team log table on better goal difference.

Mzuni stands on the 12th position with eight points from six games.

Mzuni FC chairperson Albert Mtungambela Harawa said his side expects to finish on a better position.
