I agree, privatizing the markets is not a solution. Take for example China, all markets are public but are among the best in the world.In Malawi, Few places like Bus depots are under private management but what improvements are they bringing…Take Wenera or and Lilongwe Depots. There is more which need to be done than what bwana Kapito has suggested.

Why is privatisation not the solution? Please give us a reason, or is it because you want to use government money by giving contracts to Ana a Dad? We have tried the current format for 54 years (even Blantyre market which was a “top notch” market in those days is beyond redemption now.
Allow some private investors to come in and build these markets and commercialise them. The City Assembly can only come in to overseer if the operations are not meeting the expected standards.
