Atleat CSO here in Malawi they have to understand the power of the President, they should not always push president as if they are above him. All the way they have been crying for his arrest and now they are not even appreciating, all they are saying is that “govt is kidding” so when are going to appreciate?

Chaponda’s arrest came too late. He was allowed to hide some evidence and prepare himself. You and me may not have enjoyed that privilege. Why? Justice delayed is justice denied. Chaponda should have been arrested a long time ago. Both ACB and APM should not get credit for grudgingly arresting chaponda. They should be condemned. Why arrest him now?…2019 is coming! And why are the 7 rotten ministers not being arrested? Why is the K236 billion case being swept under the bridge. Why are the killers of njaunju and chasowa not being apprehended There are so many questions begging for… Read more »

Did Peter fire Chaponda from cabinet willingly or forcefully? If you can get an answer to this question then you will also be able to know whether to give credit or not to Peter for Chaponda’s arrest.

Very sober and unbiased article. For the first time I congratulate Chiumia for a very mature and balanced article. If Nyasatimes was doing this all the time i.e. presenting issues with a sober and unbiased mind, Nyasatimes would have moved to another level of reliability and respect by all Malawians of all political divide. We want this type of reporting and not the usual hateful, biased propaganda aimed at miginalising and disadvantaging one side of the political divide in favour of the other. Well done Chiumia and Nyasatimes.

This is brilliant, well constructed and educative. Keep it up! I’m just afraid Malawians may loose their hard earned tax again in this saga. In the first place we heard that these fraudsters exchanged a lot of money in this maizegate. Then the commissions of enquiries cleared them that there was no coin that exchanged hands. And this time we hear of those allegations/cases they are supposed to answer before the court of law. In the end we will make Chaponda a hero once he is freed by the court of law. We need to be careful.

Concerned Thyolo Resident.

Poor Malawi, Poverty is indeed evil, I thought Chiumia would not be bought cheapily like that. Esh! Poverty has sold out mother Malawi to Devil kingdom. Who will protect the young generation if Journalists are now geared to exchange their professional ethics willy nilly with money. Zodiac Tiuzeni zoona host has also been bought. Look at the nature of childish questions he recently was asking the Minister of labour.Phiri was better than these crooks. Can you come back Phiri. Zodiac Ndaga, please take on this program aswell. We have thieves and crooks at Nyasatimes and zodiac now. The youth and… Read more »

This arrest is coming too late. I don’t know why you
can’t see that Thom.
If, it were me or you, we could have been arrested long
way back.
Instead of giving ACB five stars for this arrest, I will give
them, 2.5. They were sleeping on the job. They must do better
