If you’re emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless. Your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments , you’re a liability to humankind. I rest my case

@DzukaiAmalawi: It would appear your criticism is aimed at those concurring with the Court ruling. But you should be aware that is their primary reason for appearing to support Mr Chaponda; not necessarily because he’s a homeboy or because of religious or political affiliations, as you put it. One of the benefits of the judicial system operating in a democracy, in contrast to pre-1994 Kamuzu and MPs dictatorship, is the zero to minimum tolerance of political interference. So, when presiding learned magistrates and judges make a call with regarding a case, with written reasonings, we should accept the judgement regardless… Read more »

It’s very pathetic and disheartening for our poor Malawi. Hearing this makes me feel very sick. It’s mostly in Africa and particularly this poor country called Malawi that people can cheer at this utter nonsense done by the courts. This country is really collapsed and has lost its moral compass, bent for destruction. I wonder how foolish some learned people on this forum are backing up this mediocre judgement. This is not about arguments or about hunting Chaponda!!!! To hell with your useless stance on siding with this educated thief. Its about loving this country, exposing the truth, eliminating corruption,… Read more »

Whilst you are 100% right in your analysis hence your well placed anger; you must remember that 90% of our population is uneducated (though paper-educated) with no critical thinking skills. Even the educated 10% is in no space to connect the dots to understand the link between bad politics, rampant corruption and the poverty all around them (our minds are enslaved to not think that we are worth much more). As the wise would say. eloquently that…….”If we are emotionally attached to our respective tribe, religion or political leanings to the point the the truth and justice become secondary considerations,… Read more »

Justice has been done! The media and CSOs must be ashamed. How could Chaponda have stolen when the maize was not even bought from Zambia. The opposition should be ashamed too.
