There are five aspirant MCP candidates contesting in the primaries in Dowa South East. If these primaries are not handled properly, four candidates will contest as independents. This is an MCP stronghold, and as I commented on an earlier article , Chakwera may win the presidential vote but the MCP might lose the parliamentary vote because the MCP votes will, therefore, be split five- ways. The odds of a non-MCP candidate winning the constituency will, therefore, be high.
