What I have noted in UTMs road stop tours is that officials are cheating Chilima too much. What is happening is that they target busy trading centres and invade with good number of advance party to attract the attention of traders and buyers. This is NOT the right gauge of peoples support for a party. Please UTM Executive change your style otherwise you are cheating yourselves.

Nyasa Times are realistic and down to earth about Chilima and his Bus Company UTM. Well, now it’s “he continues to draw large crowds”; “people came in large numbers” and “hundreds (not thousands – my words) flocked to his rally.” Notice that the crowds are NOT massive, or excited anymore, all of a sudden. Many people have already figured this guy out: that he’s a dreamer, and his ideas are not realistic and are simply plucked straight from the ether. So, many are already sidelining him, and find his gatherings a waste of time, no matter how much they are… Read more »

Indeed the media can influence an election outcome. Look Nankhumwa held an equally if not better attended DPP rally in Bangwe but its not appearing here. Let me thank Times Group for covering the DPP live on TV and radio (though their pre and post rally analysis showed they did that reluctantly as they were constantly blaming their sponsor and praising UTM) because it proved that DPP was not after all dead in BT as some wanted us to believe. I want to plead with the media not just to glorify any campaign promises but do a “fact check”. Parties… Read more »

When politicians say they will ‘create a million new jobs’, they mean that they will create the conditions which will enable the establishment of a very large number of new jobs. Given the right conditions, more than a million new jobs could be created.

Malawi has not developed as it should have been because of these pessimists. who have negative thoughts about new good proposals. who fear to go into new areas. who always cling to the “MWAMBI – nkhwangwala wa mantha anafa ndi ukalamba”
