It is important to reflect on advantages and disadvantages of overpopulation objectively. If we had a lot of resources in 1964, it seems the country never benefited from that abundance. People were poor, very few achieved secondary education, diseases were uncontrollable. Almost everything bad happened with little intervention from authorities. Again we should tell the difference between poor foresight, failure to plan for the future, plundering of much needed resources and the actual unavailability of resources. The truth is we are where we are because of lack of patriotism, becoming rich on tax payer’s money and unfortunately we are pointing… Read more »

Dausi should stop cheating Malawians especially those from the North and Central regions. The truth is his region, the South, is more than over populated and draining government resources but because DPP’s interest is not people’s welfare but votes they still promote kuswana. Malawi is a tiny country and its both sad n shameful that a section of a tiny country should have a population that exceeds the combined population of Botswana,Lesotho Mauritius and Swaziland. Rats produce heavily because they don’t think like humans n when human follow the way rats multiply then they too think like rats. How can a… Read more »

In 1964, apparently there were not enough resources for all. it is the same today. Also we have so many people that prematurely die. I wonder if this factor was included when the minister made the population observations. we can only develop if we are under pressure to make things happen not when there is nothing to worry about. China has always been overpopulated but now they are the world’s factory, producing almost everything. India too has been overpopulated for many years but now they have a booming economy. Let us think outside the box and turn the overpopulation problem… Read more »

In 1964 we had plenty of natural resources than we have today. There was plenty of uncultivated land, vegetation, water and wild life. In my home area in late 70s children could not walk 5 km away from home because it was all forest. In my std 8 class we were 32 only. Do you know how many there are now in that class? All that is gone. China developed from the one child policy so dont make reference to it. Boko Haram came partly from poverty among young pipo due to over population. Resources were not adequate. If we… Read more »

We are sitting on timed land mine Mr Nick. This is not politics: For 52 years we have engaged the media and family planning providers and yet the population growth is sky rocketing. Read current MDHS report and you will be shocked to note very low family uptake in rural areas. Over populated South is now straining resources in Centre and North. And you want that to worsen. God have mercy on you. Reasons why DPP won’t sign a law to limit number of children are: a. Dausi is a Catholic who does believe in modern family planning services: Remember… Read more »

YOU ARE RIGHT MOPIYA. POLITICIANS LIKE DAUSI CAN NEVER MAKE A BOLD DECISION ON POPULATION GROWTH. BUT THE REALITY IS THAT WE WILL BE 40 MILLION BY 2050 AND THE RESOURCES WILL NOT BE ENOUGH FOR THE HUGE POPULATION. THE LIKES OF DAUSI WILL BE DEAD AFTER HAVING LED THIS COUNTRY TO THIS DISASTER. I APPEAL TO YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE MAJORITY NOT TO SUPPORT THE DAUSI TYPES AND TAKE THEIR OWN ACTION ABOUT THIS POPULATION DISASTER. AFTER ALL THE RESOURCES ARE ALREADY NOT ENOUGH AS THE LOOTING DAUSI GOVT IF FAILING TO PROVIDE BASIC HEALTH AND EDUCATION… Read more »
