DPP grabs hospital truck to transport Cadets: Another case of public resources abuse
Malawi’s governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is at it again, involved in another public resources abuse after the party grabbed a Hino truck registration number MG 697AJ belonging to Nkhotakota District Hospital to ferry Youth Cadets.
Nyasa Times understands that DPP grabbed the truck on Friday and was used by DPP Cadets to travel to Lilongwe to see off President Peter Mutharika who was going to the United States of America to attend the 72nd United Nations General Assembly.
DPP secretary general Greselder Jeffrey, who is also Member of Parliament for Nkhotakota South, said she see nothing wrong for the vehicle to be used by people.
“So people should not be wearing DPP colours when they are in government vehicles? Don’t politicise everything,” she said.
Wa Jeffrey said it is wrong to conclude that the DPP Cadets were going on political errand, saying “maybe they were going to a funeral.”
However, Nkhotakota District Hospital public relations officer Samson Mfuyeni confirmed the truck under Ministry of Health currently assigned to the hospital was taken by DPP to ferry its members to Lilongwe.
DPP is already under fire from civil society organisations to pay back all the money parastatals and other government agencies gave it during its fundraising event called Blue Night recently in Lilongwe.
But chairperson for the fundraising event, Hetherwick Ntaba, rubbished the calls, arguing institutions were not forced to pay the money.

The President spouts fine words to the UN General Assembly. Meanwhile his Party and his Government are riddled with corruption of one form or another. As the head of the Party the President is also corrupted. When is he going to clean up his act and bring transparency, honesty, and straight forward government to poor Malawi? Corruption is endemic to the country from the top to the bottom.
DPP is a heavy burden to Malawi. We are praying hard that God who heard the prayers and cries of Israel in Egypt, should also hear our prayers and get rid off this party from the scene.
This is what happens with people who have had serious cases of eg theft and they are left free. They never learn anything at all. Please God send another Magufuli down here. Malawi is in trouble.

DPP needs to be served with a bill for use of the government vehicle.
Unless sanity comes into our heads we will continue abusing govt resources.
There are lots of cashgaters in DPP with personal trucks. Why cant they use own truck to ferry the cadets?
The party must learn to start using own resources for political party activities. What has the taxpayer to do with DPP cadets? Why shud our taxes be abused like this?
