DPP, UDF closer to formalise coalition: Malawi Speaker informed

Malawi’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)  and United Democratic Front (UDF) are inching closer to a formal governing deal to build the foundation of a ‘deep-rooted’ political alliance, as Speaker of Parliament has been asked to allow UDF Members of Parliament be allocated seats on the government side of the House.

DPP spokesman and leader of the house Francis Kasaila is on record confirming that there is a “governing pact” between DPP and UDF.

President Peter Mutharika roped in UDF leader Atupele Muluzi into his lean cabinet.

Meanwhile, the UDF has asked the Speaker of the National Assembly Richard Msowoya, in a letter dated January 26, 2015 signed by UDF’s Secretary General Kandi Padambo to allow its MPs sit  with those of DPP on government benches.

Padambo in the letter informed the Speaker that UDF and DPP have “agreed parliamentary coalition.”

He however stated that “the Members of Parliament of the two parties will still remain in their respective parties.”

Meanwhile, private practice lawyer David Kanyenda in his expert legal opinion stated that: “It is imperative to formally inform the Office of the Speaker about the coalition pact between DPP and UDF; the Speaker must be categorically advised that the MPs of UDF and DPP will remain in their respective parties in order to eliminate any prospect of being caught by the dictates of Section 65.”

They both know very well the trickery of rigging elections, thus it is more appropriate and not surprising that they now going to bed. Political prostitutes will always be prostitutes. Muluzi did absolutely nothing for this country while DPP even ruined it further after the introduction of corruption by none other than Muluzi himselof. I feel sad that our country is further and further being ruled by not only corrupt… Read more »

Now Paramount Chief Kyungu what do you think about Secession of the north? My opinion is that UDF mps have crossed the floor. This means by elections must take place in their constituencies.
