DPP’s Blue League meet Saturday to strategize for 2019 polls

Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) Blue League—the ruling party’s youth wing—will be meeting at Mungo Park in the capital Lilongwe where top on the agenda will be to brainstorm the way forward ahead of the 2019 presidential elections.

Lindani

Blue League’s vice chairperson, Dumisani Lindani, told Nyasa Times that the function has been organized to enhance unity among youths in the party where they will also have an opportunity to help in formulating the country’s youth agenda which President Peter Mutharika—the patron—champions.

According to Lindani, the meeting will also be a pacesetter for strategies that will be made towards the party’s “landslide victory” in 2019.

But Lindani said the meeting was not utterly political.

“In a country where over 65% is youth, it is only fair to have not only a united youth but also a fully involved, functional and recognized youth organization that does not only support the government but also participates in championing the agenda for the future,” he said.

He disclosed that the meeting has been financed by contributions from members.

“As a youth grouping we have contributed money from our pockets towards the event as one way of showing responsibility. As a youthful wing, we cannot always be relying on handouts but rather fish out the little that we have as individuals,” he said.

Lindani said the door is open to youths from all spheres of life to join them to help in “making Malawi greater.”

Blue League was founded to help the party in different areas such as research, strategy formulation and advancement of the country’s youth agenda.
