Malawi cannot be termed an agricultural country because the government has not developed a cadre of commercial farmers. The country is shamelessly depending on subsistence smallholders using antiquated methods of farming.
As long as this continues, we have no future for agriculture in Malawi.
The government should intentionally identify and support people who want to venture into commercial farming, like the colonial governments supported their demobilized soldiers after WW2. Look at Zimbabwe, Kenya and other places.
Our politicians have been preaching that we are an agricultural country without really developing serious agriculture. What a oity.

The problem here is the greedy CSO who fight with the bingu’s and the kamuzu’s in a quest of human rights. ever heard of that in Tanzania? the people there are patriotic even the media no wonder they are developing. only until the so called CSO and their colonial masters stop this shit then we do have the Kamuzu seed in the country

shokodido can’t you see that the current leadership is claiming the lives of many a malawian due to its stupid and frivolous policies. why is the govt delay dalying in addressing maize crisis in the country? don’t you think this is massacre and that the people up there are answerable? they had better stood at the ICJ by now!

the incumbent leadership cannot do sush a move to enact the law to end cashgate once and for all. this is so because the citizenry knows this regime is clueless and the president is not sure wheather he is or is not involved in cashgate grafts.
